Common questions

How do check-ins work?

During the work part of a round, the app checks in at random moments. Choose how often in Settings: Gentle (about every 1½–2 minutes), Normal (about every minute) or Often (about every 30–45 seconds). Tap "Yes, I'm on it!" or "Oops, I drifted. Back now!". Both count, and drifting never costs a star.

Why does my iPad chime instead of buzzing?

iPads can't vibrate, so check-ins play a short sound and the screen flashes. Set the volume in Settings under "Check-in sound".

How do I stop a session?

Press and hold "Hold to stop" for about a second, until it fills red. This keeps a bump from ending the session. A parent can switch to a simple tap in Settings ("Hold to stop").

Does it work with the screen off on Apple Watch?

Yes. Once a round starts on the watch, the timer and check-ins keep going with the wrist down, for up to an hour per sitting. After that, start another round.

Do the iPhone and Apple Watch stay in sync?

Yes. Starting, pausing, answering a check-in or stopping on one shows up on the other. The watch does the buzzing while its app is open.
